Generous portion sizes mean that even a small meal feels hearty, leaving customers satisfied. The friendly service also makes every visit enjoyable, contributing to a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere.
Some customers have noted longer wait times during peak hours, as meals are cooked fresh to order. While this is often seen as a positive, it can catch some diners off guard if they are in a hurry.
A few have mentioned that the larger portion sizes might be too much for some, particularly if opting for a full meal after a long hike. It's worth considering ordering a smaller portion if dining solo. Additionally, there have been minor accessibility concerns regarding the shop's entry, so it's good to be mindful if visiting with mobility issues.
We read mixed reviews, so we were apprehensive. Nothing to worry about though. The fish cake was the best my partner has had in her life... The chips were very good, portions were generous... I'd be very happy if this was my local chippy.
Mushy peas were the best I've ever had! Contemplating driving the 1.5 hours everything I fancy fish and chips! Small fish and chips were still huge, fantastic quality. Had to wait a little as everything cooked fresh and they were super busy, but that was no problem. Oh, pull the door handle to close it people!
Lovely fish and chips cooked fresh I should of got the smaller portion far too much We had peas and curry sauce as an extra Well worth a visit
I was Hank Marvin so with the excellent friendly service and freshly cooked fish n chips I was well pleased
AMAZING! Best fish and chips I've had in ages and just what we fancied on a cold January night in our caravan in nearby Castleton. Freshly cooked fish as you walk in with a really friendly team serving. Love the gravy too. Will be back next time we're in Derbyshire. Thank you.
Excellent fish and chips. Super service. Prefer cash but can take cards
Visited in October 2021 and gave it a 5*.. following recent visit.. see update now a 3*... Utterly Fabulous Fish & Chip shop... We stayed in Bradwell village, Derbyshire for a week and after the first visit to the chip shop, we could not resist returning at any and every opportunity. Whilst on the second week of our holiday, in a different area.. we returned to the village and of course, the chip shop... we were missing it. Everytime the chips were; fluffy, crispy and super tasty. So in short... The staff were all friendly the food was always AMAZING and the price was very good too.. Plus they decorated for Halloween. We totally recommend Fishcakes, Scallop, Sausage in Batter, the Curry Sauce and the Gravy... Not forgetting the chips... Give it a go... you will not be disappointed.... @starnoldtravels
